‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Moving Forward With Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser

With the end of a tumultuous Season 5 looming, we now know what the future of the “Yellowstone” franchise will look like. “Yellowstone” appears to be ending, but a new spinoff is going to take over.

According to Deadline, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have both signed on to star in a “Yellowstone” spinoff series that will pick up after the events of Season 5. With the finale of Season 5 yet to air, it’s unclear what the spinoff will look like, but this is the series that will replace “Yellowstone” as the primary show.
It’s not all that surprising that a spinoff is happening. With Kevin Costner’s abrupt departure from the series, “Yellowstone” seemed like it was speeding towards a conclusion. But it’s still one of the most watched TV series out there, so Paramount would be silly to just end the show.

And according to the report, the new spinoff series will still carry “Yellowstone” in its name. This is important for two big reasons. First, it allows for casual viewers to know the series is continuing, but just with a new-ish name. And second, it allows Paramount to continue “Yellowstone” but not have to worry about the streaming deal with Peacock that the studio was handcuffed to. This new spinoff can go directly to Paramount+.

Obviously, whatever this new “Yellowstone” spinoff is called, it’s not the first one we’ve seen. The series already had spinoffs in “1883” and “1923.” There’s also “The Madison,” a contemporary spinoff that stars Michelle Pfeiffer, which has yet to debut.
A release date for the new Reilly and Hauser-led series has yet to be announced.
