Rebecca Hall already has a busy 2025, with roles in new films for Ira Sachs and Peter J. Brooksd . But now Variety reports the actress adds a TV role to her upcoming projects, this one with Ryan Murphy. Hall will stars in Murphy’s new FX series “The Beauty” alongside the previously cast Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope. Production on the series is already underway.

But Rebecca Hall in a Ryan Murphy series? Yes, our eyebrows raised at the news, too. It’s not as if this is beneath Hall’s talents, but more that, y’know, we’d rather see her do stuff like “The Night House,” “Christine,” and her own “Passing.” But maybe “The Beauty” will be a different bird than anthology series “Monster” and “American Horror Story,” or “The Watcher,” etc etc.
If anything, the comic roots of “The Beauty” may give it some upside. Based on an Image Comics title by Jeremy Huan and Jason A. Hurley, the series is set in a world where physical perfection is attainable through a sexually transmitted disease. Of crouse, most of society’s population has already taken advantage of it, but two detectives will soon realize this beauty comes at a terrible price. FX gave “The Beauty” an 11-episode order; expect it to premiere some time next year.
Hall’s recent work include the BBC series “The Listeners” and “Godzilla X Kong: New Empire.” Sachs’ new film “Peter Hujar’s Day” will premiere at Sundance next month. As for Peter J. Brooks’ comedy “Ella McKay,” 20th Century Studios has it set for release sometime in 2025.
As for Murphy, he’s fresh off of another busy 2024 slate, which includes “Grotesquerie” and “Monsters: The Lyle And Eric Menendez Story.” “The Beauty” is part of Murphy’s overall deal at Disney, via 20th Television.
As noted earlier, expect “The Beauty” to premiere on FX sometime in 2025.
