With all eyes on James Gunn’s Superman trailer, many comic book fans may have actually forgotten that Marvel Studios also has some big movies coming out in 2025. Among those is The Fantastic Four: First Steps
, which has had a brand new look at Marvel’s First Family unveiled at Disney Celebra in Argentina. As shared on X/Twitter, a new piece of art gives the best look yet at what the new iteration of the fab foursome will look like when they make their debut next year.
There has been a strange lull around Marvel Studios recently, despite several big releases coming down the line in what could well be a make-or-break year for the multi-million dollar franchise. After a terrible run of box office results between 2021 and 2023, this year only Deadpool & Wolverine flew the flag for the MCU at the worldwide box office – and what a bout of patriotic flag waving it turned out to be. Now, the tough work for Kevin Feige and his team really begins, as they attempt to return the franchise to the position it was in seven years ago in the run-up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War.
While Captain America: Brave New World is first up with a February release – having swapped places in the schedule with Fantastic Four – and Thunderbolts* also coming out in May, it is July’s release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps that is really going to be the biggest gauge of Marvel Studios’ box office presence, especially arriving just a couple of weeks after the DCU’s Superman. While there is still no sight of the first trailer for the movie, fans can get the best idea yet of what to expect from the Fantastic Four team when they hit cinemas next year.
Fantastic Four: First Steps is Attempting to Erase the Past

This will be the fourth iteration of the Fantastic Four to be realized in a movie, and also one of the most important. While the old ‘90s movie has gained a cult status for its cheap and cheerful approach to the comic book team, most people first saw the Fantastic Four come to life in the early 2000s, when Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, and Michael Chiklis took on the roles in a 2005 movie and a 2007 sequel. The franchise lay dormant after that, until Fox delivered a new version in 2015 with Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell making up the team in what became one of the worst superhero movies of all time.
Now Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will have the daunting task of embodying the MCU’s versions of Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Susan Storm, and Ben Grimm, respectively. Their first adventure will reportedly not take place within the MCU, but many believe that by the end of the movie, not only will the group find themselves thrown into the main Marvel timeline following a clash with Galactus, but we will also have a first look at Robert Downey Jr. in his new role as Doctor Doom.

There is still a long way to go before we see how the Fantastic Four fare in their first outing under Marvel Studios, and whether they can perform better than their predecessors. Hopefully, with James Gunn having displayed the DCU’s summer wares, Kevin Feige won’t be too far behind in revealing Marvel Studios’ challenger for box office supremacy.
