Spider-Man 4 Could Cast Anya Taylor-Joy as Gwen Stacey Following Latest Rumors

Dec 29, 2024

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are finally charging forward on their next collaboration with Spider-Man 4
. While there are many conflicting rumors about exactly what the new outing for Tom Holland’s web-slinger will entail, a new report from industry insider Daniel Richtman has suggested that Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy
is being eyed for a major role in the upcoming movie.
Taylor-Joy has been carving out an impressive run of movies and TV shows, including Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit, and Dune: Part Two. This is not the first time that the actress has been on Marvel’s radar, and would also not be her first Marvel rodeo, having previously appeared in Fox’s ill-fated New Mutants. Previously, she was said to be one of the actresses considered for the role of the Silver Surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, but this time, Ritchman has hinted that she is once again being circled by Kevin Feige and his team. He said:

“Marvel/Sony eyeing Anya Taylor-Joy for a role in next ‘Spider-Man’ movie. I should remind people she was also eyed for the female Silver Surfer in ‘F4’ before the role went to Julia Garner.”

Obviously, right now, this is just one of many rumors that are out there about the highly anticipated new Spider-Man movie, but if it is true, there is a strong possibility that Taylor-Joy could be vying for the role of Gwen Stacy, who it has also been suggested is being introduced to the MCU in this movie. However, this just forms one of the many wild rumors that are out there on the internet right now.
Spider-Man’s Adventures Could Lead Peter Parker Anywhere

While Taylor-Joy joining the MCU would be a coup for the franchise, there are many other potentially crowd-pleasing characters and actors that could be on the cards depending on how Sony and Marvel Studios decide to play out the next Spider-Man movie. Following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was reported that Sony and Marvel Studios were at loggerheads over whether Spider-Man 4 would be another blockbuster multiverse movie or a more grounded movie that could possibly see the character cross over with “street heroes” such as Daredevil.
Spider-Man 4 could also begin to explore its very tenuous connections to the Sony Spider-Man Universe following the post-credits scene from No Way Home, which saw Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock leaving behind a little bit of Venom as he was sucked back to his own world to appear in Venom: The Last Dance. It is undeniable that fans would love to see Venom appear in the MCU, and clearly there is a plan for that to happen…at some point. When exactly that happens is much less clear, as Marvel Studios have been playing the long – looong – game with many of their post-credits scene teases recently.

‘Spider-Man 4’s details are largely being kept under wraps, but here’s what to expect from the cast, story, and release date.

In short, all we currently know about Spider-Man 4 is that it will bring back Tom Holland as the titular hero, and, according to producer Amy Pascal, “We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about.”

We will find out whether that is the case in July 2026, which is when the film is currently set for release.
