Where Hollywood Is Taking Shelter
Jan 20, 2025
We’re not usually in the business of peddling Maps of the Stars’ Homes, but recent events have obviously rewritten the cartography of the town. Here, for now, is where Hollywood has decamped to as wildfires continue to tear through Los Angeles. Palm Springs seems to be one of the more popular destinations — there have been reports of movie stars roaming the local Target, which reliable sources report was sold out of underwear — though some celebrities are sticking closer to home, filling up every four- and five-star hotel in Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Long Beach and other local environs.
Beverly Hills
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson took up residence at the Peninsula (where Ari Emanuel was spotted in the hotel café). Demi Moore and daughters Rumer and Scout (and their nine dogs) moved into L’Ermitage; Keanu Reeves super-manager Meredith Wechter settled into the Beverly Wilshire; and the Beverly Hills Hotel hosted Jamie Lee Curtis and producers Rick Yorn and Erik Feig.
Bel-Air
Dennis Quaid had a narrow escape from Brentwood — KNBC reporter Robert Kovacik wouldn’t stop interviewing him as he packed his teenage daughter’s belongings into his Mercedes — but he finally made it to the Hotel Bel-Air, joining Michael Keaton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Tommy Lee.
West Hollywood
The Four Seasons sold out almost the instant the fires broke out, but Rosie O’Donnell managed to snag the last suite. “We were home, in an evacuation zone in the house that we rent in Santa Monica,” she explained in a TikTok video, adding that she and her family bolted the beachside city “because there was orange sky right through my backyard … you could see the orange flames … it was very scary.”
LAX
Where else would Paris Hilton seek refuge? The LAX Hilton, naturally.
Long Beach
Severance star Adam Scott and Ripley actor Andrew Scott found lodging at the Fairmont Long Beach, no doubt confusing check-in clerks with their identical last names.
Laguna Beach/Dana Point
Celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang, restaurateur Marissa Hermer, Vince creative director Caroline Belhumeur, casting director Leslee Feldman and producer Lionel Wigram found shelter at the Monarch Beach Resort Hotel and nearby Casa Laguna Hotel & Spa.
Palm Springs
Swarms of luminaries descended on private residences in the desert — we hear Rachel Bilson, Lana Kent, WME’s Richard Weitz and several Kardashians were among them — while others filled up the local five-star hotels like The Ritz in Rancho Mirage, where Gal Gadot was sighted.
La Quinta
Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge relocated to the tony Madison Club, where neighbors like media mogul Haim Saban and Hybe Media head Scooter Braun were sheltering. Also nearby: WME’s Christian Muirhead and music documentary producer Rick Krim.
