According to Deadline, Ulrich Thomsen has been cast as the villainous Sinestro in the upcoming DC Studios series, “Lanterns.” For fans of the comics, Sinestro is an exciting addition to the show. In the Green Lantern lore, Sinestro started as a good guy, as a member of the Corps. However, he would eventually go rogue and start using a yellow power ring, which feeds on the fear of others.
Thomsen is probably best known for his TV work, appearing on shows such as “Banshee,” “The Blacklist,” and “Counterpart.” He’s known for playing pretty shady characters, so his casting as Sinestro works out well.

“Lanterns” tells the story of two members of the Green Lantern Corps., John Stewart and Hal Jordan, as they come to Earth to investigate a murder in a small town. Aaron Pierre is set to play Stewart and Kyle Chandler will play Jordan. Other cast members include Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, and Poorna Jagannathan.
We still don’t have an expected release date for the series. However, with production beginning soon, it looks like an early 2026 release date makes the most sense.
