Long-Awaited Sequel Arrives On Netflix On July 2
Jan 30, 2025
“The Old Guard 2” has been a long time coming: five years, in fact, if one counts from the first film’s July 10, 2020 premiere on Netflix. But all sorts of post-production delays derailed an earlier arrival time for the sequel. Filming on it wrapped in September 2022, but 2023 passed without any updates until last summer. Would “The Old Guard 2 ” ever see the light of day?

Indeed it will, and Netflix revealed details on the film’s release at the “Next On Netflix” event in LA yesterday with an official premiere date: July 2. Then Netflix unveiled a special Behind The Scenes teaser for the film on X today. There’s not much to the 30-second clip, but another trailer should arrive before “The Old Guard 2” premieres this summer.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Old Guard 2,” courtesy of Netflix:
Andy and her team of immortal warriors return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence.
“The Old Guard 2” stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, and Luca Marinelli. Veronica Ngô and Henry Golding also star, with Uma Thurman and Chiwetel Ejiofor rounding out the main cast.
Victoria Mahoney directs the film from a screenplay by original graphic novel writer Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker. Theron leads producers with AJ Dix, Beth Kono, Marc Evans, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.
As noted above, “The Old Guard 2” premieres on Netflix on July 2. Watch the Behind The Scenes teaser below.
