Brian Tyree Henry & Wagner Moura Lead The Ridley Scott-Produced Apple Crime Series

What really goes on in a quiet rural home? Friends learn that nothing is ever as it seems in “Dope Thief.” The Apple TV+ series’ main characters come together for a quick robbery and soon discover something far-reaching. This adaptation of Dennis Tafoya’s book comes with notable talents both in front of and behind the camera. It sees Academy Award-nominee Ridley Scott direct the first episode, in addition to being an executive producer. ‘Thief’ hails from series creator and Academy Award-nominee and screenwriter Peter Craig (“The Town,” “The Batman,” and “Top Gun: Maverick”).

This anticipated project features an ensemble cast led by Emmy and Tony nominee Brian Tyree Henry. The actor had an impressive 2024, lending his voice to the well-received “Transformers One” and starring in the blockbuster “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Henry is far from the only notable name lined up for the Apple TV+ series. Wagner Moura, Marin Ireland, Kate Mulgrew, Nesta Cooper, Amir Arison, and Ving Rhames co-star. Moura, best known for “Narcos,” recently drew praise for his performance in “Civil War.” He’s additionally set to appear in the 2025 political thriller “The Secret Agent.”

Based on Dennis Tafoya’s book of the same name, the series follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.
