Jon Bernthal & Reinaldo Marcus Green Officially Developing A ‘Punisher Special Presentation’ For Marvel Television
Feb 25, 2025
We haven’t seen a Marvel Special Presentation streaming on Disney+ since Michael Giacchino‘s fantastic horror homage “Werewolf By Night” (which introduced us to Jack Russell, Man-Thing, and monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone) and James Gunn‘s “The Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special” but there is news that Marvel Television is gearing up for a new one focusing on “The Punisher.”
Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum has revealed to ComicBook in a now-deleted YouTube post (via Collider) that they are developing a “Punisher Special Presentation” with Jon Bernthal reprising the anti-hero role. Of course, Bernthal is making his grand entry into the mainstream MCU thanks to “Daredevil: Born Again” and the Netflix era of shows being tossed into the canon (Bernthal got his two seasons of his own solo “Punisher” series that co-starred “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Microchip).

Entertainment Weekly has since added more concrete details to share as Bernthal is developing the project with “We Own This City” director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is set to direct the MCU project.
“It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story,” Winderbaum told EW in a big announcement officially confirming more Punisher is coming to Disney+. “It’s so exciting.”
Castle is a former special forces soldier who takes it upon himself to seek violent justice for his murdered family, leading him to pursue a one-man mission of revenge upon all sorts of villainy, as this particular Marvel Comics character isn’t as conflicted when it comes to killing. We’ve previously seen Frank go up against mobsters, corrupt cops, private military contractors, and even faced his former comrades from the U.S. military.
Will we see Castle appear in projects like “Spider-Man 4“ given that Parker has crossed his path in New York City in the comics? That remains to be seen but, interestingly, Tom Holland and Bernthal are reuniting on Christopher Nolan‘s Greek epic “The Odyssey“ after having co-starred together in 2017’s “Pilgrimage.”
Bernthal can be seen alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrino in the upcoming Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again” when it debuts on March 4.
