Born Again’ Miles Morales MCU Easter Egg Revealed in Episode 3
Mar 13, 2025
Daredevil: Born Again is introducing a lot of new characters to the MCU, but the latest episode just teased that a beloved Spider-Verse character might appear in the franchise in the near future. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock in the new series, along with Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, and the show recently released its heartbreaking third episode. The series is already packed with references to the original Netflix series, the comic books the show is based on, and the wider MCU, with everyone from The Punisher to Spider-Man getting name-dropped in the series. But, Episode 3, titled “The Hollow of His Hand,” just referenced one beloved character no one was expecting.
Spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3!
Episode 3 makes good on Daredevil: Born Again’s original pitch as being a courtroom drama. The episode mostly follows the trial of Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes) as Matt Murdock desperately fights to convince the jury that he didn’t murder a cop. During the trial, Murdock reveals that Ayala is the vigilante known as the White Tiger and recounts various police reports citing how the White Tiger helped the NYPD. Matt Murdock names various NYPD officers, including Officer Morales. Comic book and Spider-Verse fans should instantly recognize that name as being the father of Miles Morales.

From the original Marvel comics to the previous ‘Daredevil’ series to MCU films, check out the Easter eggs and references in ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
Miles Morales is the main protagonist of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, both of which helped to make the character a household name. With Avengers: Secret Wars looming on the horizon, the internet is ablaze with rumors about which Marvel Comics characters might debut in the movie, and Miles Morales’ name gets thrown around a lot online. The character hasn’t been confirmed to star in any MCU projects yet. However, with the Spider-Verse franchise proving the immense popularity of the character, the chance of Miles appearing in the MCU one day is almost a guarantee.
When Will Miles Morales Appear in the MCU
Sony Animation
The Officer Morales name drop in Daredevil: Born Again isn’t the first time the MCU has referenced Miles Morales existing on Earth-616. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man came face to face with Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover. Davis is Miles’ villainous uncle, who also goes by the alter-ego, The Prowler. In the scene, Aaron Davis even mentions that he has a nephew in New York. Marvel and Sony then doubled down on the reference in Across the Spider-Verse, as Glover appears in live-action after being captured by the Spider Society. It was later confirmed that this was the same variant found in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
While Miles Morales hasn’t been confirmed for any upcoming MCU movies (or shows), Kevin Feige is eager for the beloved character to appear in the future… although it might not happen anytime soon. Before he can appear in the MCU, Miles first has to round out his own animated trilogy, when Beyond the Spider-Verse is finally released by Sony Animation. “I hope that, shortly after that, he can enter the MCU in live-action,” Kevin Feige revealed.
