A new face is joining Firehouse 51 for Chicago Fire Season 15. For Chicago Fire fans, Season 15 can’t come fast enough, and Oct. 7 seems like a lifetime away. Season 14 ended with quite the explosive cliffhanger: Firehouse 51 answers an emergency call regarding a storage facility catching fire, a loud boom is heard, and the screen cuts to black. Talk about dramatic. The Chicago Fire cast and crew have been hard at work filming Season 15 for several weeks, and, luckily for viewers, several stars have shared updates on social media. These set photos have confirmed the fate of some beloved characters, Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte), Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente), Harold Capp (Randy Flagler), and Tony Ferraris (Anthony Ferraris). And now, it’s been confirmed that Shadowhunters’ Matthew Daddario is part of the cast for the upcoming season.

Daddario’s arrival was revealed by new series regular Da’Vinchi, who posted an on-set picture of himself, Daddario, and Larracuente posing on Truck 81 via Instagram (Aug. 20). While nothing super specific has been revealed about who his character is or what his role in Season 15 might be, Deadline reports that he’ll be playing a firefighter candidate. Meanwhile, Da’Vinchi’s Marcus Burke will also be joining Daddario as a candidate-in-training, with Larracuenter’s Vasquez seemingly at the helm training the station’s newest recruits for the next generation.

Of course, a cliffhanger like Season 14’s signals to viewers that we might be saying goodbye to some fan favorites, and there’s been a few confirmed departures before the newest season’s premiere. Showrunner Andrea Newman was the first confirmed exit in April 2026, with co-executive producer Victor Teran taking over for upcoming episodes. Later, stars Dermot Mulroney (Dom Pascal) and Joe Miñoso (Joe Cruz) were also confirmed to be leaving the show. While Season 15’s plot lines have been kept tightly under wraps, set photos suggest some possible outcomes for how Cruz and Pascal’s stories could end.

One Chicago Center reported that these photos suggest a dramatic outcome for Cruz, as it’s been hinted that the fire will leave him seriously injured, potentially opening a route to either kill him off or give him medical grounds to leave the team. Meanwhile, Season 14’s ending didn’t show Pascal in the throes of danger; however, he’s been willing to put himself in the line of fire for others, including disobeying FBI orders and risking his life to recover an important hard drive in a crossover episode. Maybe no one will die, and all this worrying has been for nothing — we won’t know for sure until the season premiere in October.
