First coming to HBO Max in early 2025, The Pitt quickly became one of the streamer’s most successful releases ever, giving viewers a thrilling new medical drama to dive into. The show is led by Emmy winner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinowitz and a supporting cast that includes Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Taylor Dearden (Dr. Melissa King), Patrick Ball (Dr. Frank Langdon), and Fiona Douriff (Dr. Cassie McKay). HBO delivers a unique medical drama in The Pitt, centering on one 12-hour hospital shift per season across a 15-episode slate, which always expands to a 15-hour shift.

Season 3 will bring in a host of new faces, including Stephen Chang (The Last of Us), Barry Clifton (Yellowstone), Chris Diamantopoulos (Invincible), and Lawrence Kao (Walker: Independence). The first two seasons delivered epic action, focusing on a mass-casualty event in Season 1 and placing greater emphasis on the show’s main characters in Season 2. Now, as Season 3 gets ready for its long-awaited debut early next year, HBO shared an exciting first look at what to expect from Dr. Robby and the rest of the staff at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (PTMC) HBO and HBO Max released the first official trailer for The Pitt Season 3, which will begin streaming in Jan. 2027. Bringing back Emmy winner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, the series’ leading character returns from his three-month sabbatical, teased at the end of Season 2, for another round of chaotic action at the PTMC. While he admits knowing that his “first day back was gonna be hard,” Dr. Robby dives back into the mayhem, as the trailer shows a number of traumatic injuries and patients in pain for the new shift this season will cover.

This season is also confirmed to include another time jump for the PTMC’s medical team, moving to the day after Veterans’ Day 2026 in November for Season 3’s plot. Plenty of drama will also come during this shift, as Dr. Abbot and many of Dr. Robby’s colleagues are skeptical about whether Robby will actually show up for his first shift in three months. This leads to a great deal of tension that builds amongst the staff, which only adds to the pressure of tending to some of the worst injuries and medical problems the show has delivered yet. Robby will continue to feel the personal and mental strain of this job on his first day back, but he will not take it easy, jumping right back into the madness with both feet. From here, plenty of mysteries and questions still linger ahead of the show’s return.

The Pitt Season 3 will debut on HBO Max in Jan. 2027.
