Netflix’s 10/10 Thriller Series Returns After 3 Year Absence With Explosive New Trailer
Sep 15, 2026
Over the last five years, Netflix has expanded heavily into non-English content, with international series taking an even bigger focus for the streaming giant. One of the biggest driving forces in that effort is the French thriller series Lupin, led by X-Men: Days of Future Past and Transformers: The Last Night star Omar Sy. The story centers on professional thief Assane Diop (Sy), who comes to France for a better life for himself and his child. After Diop’s father is framed for stealing an expensive diamond necklace, Diop sets out to avenge his family by using disguises and gadgets to expose the crimes of the man who used to employ his father, Hubert Pellegrini. Regarded as one of the best currently-running shows on TV, production on Season 4 officially began in May 2025, bringing Sy and co. back for another thrilling round of adventures in France. This season is also confirmed to be the longest in the series yet, bringing eight episodes, after Season 3 had seven and the first two seasons had only five each. Now, as Lupin looks to make its return to Netflix, the streamer is offering its first peek into what to expect this season.
Netflix released the first official trailer for Lupin Season 4, which will debut on Oct. 23. The French-language series comes back with a shocking twist, as the trailer opens with, “We have a new Lupin.” From here, Omar Sy’s Assane Diop is seen locked up in a glass box, while another Lupin is on the loose as police track them down. The show will pick up four years after Season 3, as Assane looks to serve out his prison sentence and keep his promise to his son to meet his family in Senegal. However, this all goes downhill when multiple museums are afflicted by simultaneous heists. This trailer finally brings Lupin back into the spotlight after a three-year gap, as Season 3 originally aired on Netflix starting in Oct. 2023. Here, Sy’s “gentleman thief” turned himself into Detective Guédira in exchange for the freedom of his best friend, Benjamin Férel, and so he could ensure his family’s getting out of Paris safely. Now, with Diop in a cell and facing off against an apparent copycat, the stakes will be higher than ever for the central hero in his return to Netflix.
