Fraser has a decade-spanning over three years in the movie business. He got his start in films such as “Encino Man” and “School Ties.” After a string of studio comedies, including the cult comedy “Blast from the Past,” he ventured into indie film with the Oscar-winning “Gods and Monsters” before becoming the lead of “The Mummy” franchise in 1999. He starred in three “Mummy” movies overall and joins co-star Rachel Weisz as the eventual Oscar winners. The Indianapolis native also starred in Best Picture winner “Crash,” where he earned a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance for a Cast in a Motion Picture. His other credits include the 2008 hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”
The past decade saw Fraser’s career mostly relegated to television, where he had arcs on series such as “The Affair” and “Trust.” He’s spent the past four years starring on HBO Max’s DC Universe series “Doom Patrol.” Aronofsky partially cast Fraser for “The Whale” after seeing him in the trailer for a 2006 drama, “Journey to the End of Night.”
Following his Oscar win, Fraser will be seen later this year in Martin Scorsese’s “Killer of the Flower Moon” and Max Barbakow’s “Brothers.”
