A Diamond Heist Gone Wrong Gets Worse In New Peacock Limited Series

Dec 13, 2022

TV audiences best know actress Carla Gugino for her recent work with Mike Flanagan on Netflix. But Gugino also has a long-time working relationship with another director, Sebastian Gutierrez. In fact, she stars in several of his films, including his 1998 debut “Judas Kiss” and his latest, 2018’s “Elizabeth Harvest.” She also headlines Guiterrez’s 2019 Cinemax crime-comedy series “Jett,” about a world-class ex-thief who slowly regresses back into a life of crime.

Now, Gugino and Guiterrez team up again for “Leopard Skin,” a limited series in the same vein as “Jett.” In the show, Gugino plays Alba, the owner of a beachside villa in Mexico taken hostage by a gang on the run after a botched heist. Antics, betrayal, and illicit dealings of all kinds ensue.
Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Peacock:
Fleeing a botched diamond heist, a criminal gang seeks shelter in the remote paradise of Playa Perdida, Mexico in the beachside estate of two women, Alba and Batty. Dark and humorous complications arise when they are joined by two dinner guests (TV producer Max and his flighty girlfriend Maru) and Alba’s former housekeeper as they all are soon taken hostage. Murderous secrets, coldhearted betrayals, and shocking desires bubble to the surface as everyone awaits their fate.
Alongside Gugino, “Leopard Skin” also stars Amelia Eve, Gentry White, Philip Winchester, Margot Bingham, Gaite Jansen, Nora Arnezeder, and Ana de la Reguera.
Gutierrez writes and directs the entire eight-episode limited series. He also serves as co-executive producer with Gugino, Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Miguel A. Palos Jr.
“Jett” didn’t find much of an audience on Cinemax, but critics loved it. So, how will “Leopard Skin” fare on Peacock? Find out when the series hits the streamer next week on November 17. Watch a trailer for the show below.
