Code Geass’ upcoming movie has received more information ahead of its upcoming premiere, such as new cast members and the mech designs, which look just as good as those from the original series. In a year filled with amazing anime movies such as the Chainsaw Man movie and My Hero Academia movie 4, Code Geass stands out as it marks the return of a masterpiece.

Announced in December 2020, the film was announced to premiere in May 2024 and would be exclusively available on Disney+ after the cinema run. With less than a month till the promised date, fans have been treated to new key visuals.

As confirmed by the official website of Code Geass: Roze Of The Recapture, Junichi Akutsu will be returning to design the Knightmare Frames, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED’s Satoshi Shigeta will be handling the mechanical design. With two masters of their craft working on the design of the iconic robots, fans of the mecha genre will have to pay the cinema a visit on May 10.

Code Geass Returns After Half A Decade

The movie will be split into 4 parts, with the first part premiering on May 10, the second one a month later, on June 7, the third on July 5, and the final one on August 2. No information has been released on when the movie will be coming to North America and around the world, but it should follow the same timeline as most anime movies, with the international release coming a few months after the Japanese premiere. Code Geass’ last film, which was in 2019, was made available internationally only 2 months later, so this upcoming one will hopefully be the same.

Unfortunately for fans of the iconic Lelouch Lamperouge, the anti-hero main character will not be making an appearance in this movie, as it will be a completely original movie with new protagonists and a different storyline. However, that does not mean it is not worth watching. Two brother mercenaries, Ash and Roze, work with the Japanese Resistance against the Neo-Brittanian Empire to stop their conquest and free Emperor Sakuya. With time ticking and the evil empire acquiring the means to take over the world, it is now or never for the duo as they lead a revolution against King Charles.

Although this movie deviated from the original storylines, there is good news for fans of Code Geass. Producer Kojiro Taniguchi announced the Code Geass 10-year plan, with Code Geass: Roze Of The Recapture being just the first phase of the vision to bring out new content from the franchise. Given how the 2019 movie ended with Lelouch regaining his memories and embarking on an adventure with CC against a mysterious enemy, it is very likely that Lelouch will become the main character yet again, but for now, Code Geass: Roze Of The Recapture will be a great starter for a long franchise project.
