Alden Ehrenreich Gets Transformed Into Green Lantern in New Fan Art

Nov 30, 2023

Summary

Superman and Batman won’t be the only heroes getting a new version with James Gunn’s DCU. Max will welcome a new original tv show set in the world of Green Lantern, with John Stewart and Hal Jordan as the lead characters. After the major flop that ended up being the live-action adaptation with Ryan Reynolds, a new story featuring a large group of members from the Green Lantern Corps was in development, but the project was ultimately canceled with a new tv show now in the works as a part of the DCU led by Gunn and Peter Safran. The Green Lantern tv series, titled Lanterns, will offer a different take on the popular mythology within DC Comics. Inspired by True Detective, the show will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart trying to solve a mystery, potentially across the galaxy, and will connect with a larger plot that will serve as the franchise’s guideline.

As fans await for news regarding the series, specially some casting updates to know who will be playing Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Instagram artist jaxsonderr published a fan art of Oppenheimer and Solo star Alden Ehrenreich as Jordan:

Despite the fact the movie centered on Han Solo was not one of the biggest hits within the world of Star Wars or even in Ehrenreich’s career, the actor proved he can take being part of a huge franchise, so joinig the DCU wouldn’t be a problem for him and could actually help him left that bad experience behind, and get a new chance thanks to the superhero genre.

What to Expect from Green Lantern TV Show
DC Comics

It’s been a long time since fans got to see an official version of Green Lantern on the big screen in live-action format, so most of them are eager to see what Gunn and his team will do with one of the most important mythologies within DC Comics. In fact, the co-CEO of DC Studios has already chosen an actor to play one of the most famous Lanterns, Guy Gardner, with Nathan Fillion joining the cast of Superman: Legacy to play him.

But the story center on Jordan and Stewart will offer something very different. When Gunn and Safran announced the first projects that will be part of the first pahse of the new DCU, titled Gods & Monsters, the Green Lantern tv series was presented as a show inspired by True Detective, which will have the two main characters trying to solve a mystery, probably across the galaxy.

The story is set to connect with a larger plot that will actually be the guideline for the whole franchise, which could be one of the reasons why Gunn included Gardner in Superman: Legacy. Since the show is replacing the previously announced project, which would include several other Lanterns, the new story could still do something like that, with Jordan and Stewart crossing paths with some other heroes from the corps, mostly considering the series’ name is Lanterns.

For now, none official release date has been announced for Lanterns, and since most upcoming projects are currently on pause because of the strikes, it could take a while for fans to get news about it.
