Alexandra Daddario Discovers Her Supernatural Powers In AMC’s Newest Anne Rice Adaptation

Dec 19, 2022

One of the most pleasant surprises of 2022 is probably just how good AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” actually is. Season 1 took many off-guard with its really strong retelling of the classic Anne Rice tale. So, even though the idea of an Anne Rice cinematic universe seemed unnecessary a year ago, there are now a lot of folks excited to see how it gets built out over the next few years. And next Anne Rice world getting brought to AMC is “Mayfair Witches.”

As seen in the trailer for “Mayfair Witches,” the series follows the story of a young neurosurgeon who discovers that she comes from a long line of witches. As her power grows, she begins to unravel the mystery surrounding her family and the power she possesses. While there are no overt references to the world of “Interview with the Vampire” in the trailer, you have to expect to find some sort of mention at some point in the series. Anne Rice’s ‘Mayfair’ novels do have crossovers with the world of ‘Interview,’ so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to at least find some Easter Eggs in the new show.
“Mayfair Witches” stars Alexandra Daddario in the lead role. She’s coming off a breakout role in Season 1 of “The White Lotus.” Previously, she also starred in “True Detective” and films such as “San Andreas,” “Baywatch,” and “Die in a Gunfight.” The series is co-created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford.
“Mayfair Witches” debuts on AMC on January 8, 2023. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches, Mayfair Witches is an exploration of female power and the mortal implications of our decisions.  Mayfair Witches focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon (Alexandra Daddario) who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches.
