AMC’s New Series Makes History as It Reunites Charlie Sheen With ‘Two and a Half Men’ Co-Star

Oct 1, 2026

Charlie Sheen is returning to the small screen for an upcoming AMC series, and he’s not leading it alone. The fresh project deviates from AMC’s typical fare, providing viewers with a rare comedy offering from the mega-popular network. Typically known for stellar action and drama series like The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men, AMC is dipping its toes into the comedy space with Sheen’s latest project. A half-hour family comedy titled Happy Jack is on the streamer’s upcoming slate, and the series will reunite Sheen with his longtime co-star and real-life father, Martin Sheen. The elder Sheen has joined his son on the big and small screen numerous times before, and this latest union of the talented duo once again situates them as father and son. The upcoming series stars Charlie Sheen as Jack and Martin Sheen as his far more responsible father. The logline for the show promises plenty of laughs, teasing that Jack, “a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well,” is poised for a major choice in the show’s early plot.
“Charlie Sheen plays Jack, a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well. He’s got two great daughters (though his Dad, played by Martin Sheen, deserves more credit for how they turned out). Kate runs Jack’s company and keeps him on the rails while Sam is a wild child who is more like her Dad. When Sam comes home to introduce everyone to her new boyfriend, Jack’s shocked to learn Paul, a former investment banker turned van life guru, is the same age as he is. Shocked at first (hypocrisy be damned), Jack soon realizes he’s got a choice to make. Will he keep looking out for number one, or embrace this last chance to be a real part of his daughters’ lives?”

Charlie Sheen’s career has seen some major ups and downs over the years, and this latest project comes at a great time for the star. Following a dry period between 2017 and 2023, the actor has appeared in several fresh projects, but Happy Jack may be the one that launches him back to his former fame. Discussing the series, he praised AMC and gushed over the opportunity to make his big return to television screens across the nation, and alongside his father, no less. “I’ve always heard the moments that truly matter happen when they’re supposed to,” he said, according to Deadline. “The good folks at AMC have played a huge hand in deciding that moment is now.”

He even hinted toward his previous career hurdles, noting that “it’s no secret that it’s been a minute,” but adding that he’s “thrilled to be going back on television in such a meaningful way in an equally wonderful show. The crew has reassembled – suffice it to say, it’s time to give the people what they want.”

Happy Jack has been greenlit for an initial six-episode run. It is beginning production at Warner Bros. Studios, and is slated for a 2027 launch. Sheen will be working with even more familiar faces in Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who were tapped to write, executive produce, and serve as showrunners on the upcoming project. Patterson and Ross have worked together before, including on Two and a Half Men, yet another series in which the Sheens played father and son.
