Ana de Armas Is Just as Deadly as John Wick in Gripping New ‘Ballerina’ Sneak Peek

Apr 17, 2025

There were no new John Wick projects sent out into the world last year, but that all changes this year, thanks to Ana de Armas. The Blade Runner 2049 and No Time to Die star will lead a new John Wick spin-off movie, Ballerina, that just got a thrilling new look. The official Ballerina Instagram account shared a new clip from behind the scenes of the upcoming action film, which shows Armas battling a foe with a pan, proving she’s every bit as resourceful as Keanu Reeves’ John Wick. In addition to Ana de Armas, Ballerina will also star Norman Reedus as Pine, with Lance Reddick and Ian McShane reprising their roles as Sharon and Winston, respectively. Reeves will also appear as John Wick in the film, which is coming to theaters on June 6.
Shay Hatten, who previously made his screenwriting debut on John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, will pen the script for the film. Hatten also wrote the script for John Wick: Chapter Four, and he’s also a Zack Snyder veteran, having worked on projects such as Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon Part One and Two. Len Wiseman will be the first to direct a John Wick movie not named Chad Stahelski, but his background of working on action movies set against the backdrop of a dark, gritty criminal underworld will certainly bode well for Ballerina. Wiseman most recently directed a few episodes of Swamp Thing, and he also helmed episodes of Sleepy Hollow and Lucifer. He’s also known for his work on Total Recall (Colin Farrell) and Live Free or Die Hard (Bruce Willis).
The Future of the ‘John Wick’ Franchise Is Secure

After the release of John Wick 4, it was unclear what the future held for the John Wick franchise once Ballerina had been released. However, we now know that once Ballerina leaves theaters, the John Wick universe is far from over. Lionsgate took the stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas not long ago to officially confirm that John Wick: Chapter 5 is officially in the works, with both leading star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski set to return. Donnie Yen’s Caine is also getting a spin-off movie that’s set to begin production later this year in Hong Kong. Caine has also been tapped to direct the currently untitled film, which also does not have a release date.
Ballerina releases in theaters everywhere on June 6. Check out the new sneak peek above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the film.
