Apr 21, 2023
Apple TV+ already has an expanding library of great original programming, like “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “Servant,” and “Schmigadoon!.” But the streamer also has a handful of original international series like “Pachinko” and “Acapulco” that fly under the radar.

Add another show like that to the Apple TV+ ranks: “Drops Of God,” a French-Japanese drama set in the world of gastronomy and fine wines. Based on Kodansha‘s bestselling manga series of the same name, the series follows Camille, a French woman set to inherit her late oenologist father’s impressive wine empire. However, there’s a catch: she must beat her dad’s Japanese protégé Issei Tomine in a wine-tasting duel. Bad news for Camille: she’s never even tasted wine before. Let the games begin.
Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita headline the cast of “Drops Of God” as Camile and Issei Tomine, respectively. Quoc Dang Tran serves as creator of the series after five years in development. Oded Ruskin directs the series, while Klaus Zimmermann serves as executive producer. Production banners on the series include Les Productions Dynamic, Adline Entertainment, and 22H22. Hulu Japan and France Télévision co-present “Drops Of God” with Apple TV+.
The first two episodes of “Drops Of God” are available on Apple TV+ now—new episodes of the series premiere weekly through June 2. In the pilot episode, “A Father,” Camille heads to Tokyo after an unexpected call from her estranger father. In Episode Two, “Sky, Earth, Humans,” Camille accepts her father’s wine-tasting challenge, while Issei’s family complicates his involvement.
