The Critics’ Choice Association announced their 2024 nominations this morning and “Barbie” took the wheel. Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster earned 18 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Margot Robbie), Best Supporting Actress (America Ferrera), and three Best Song nominations. “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” earned 13 nominations each, while “Killers of the Flower Moon” took 12.

All three films were joined in the Best Picture category along with “American Fiction,” “The Color Purple,” “The Holdovers,” “Maestro,” “Past Lives,” and “Saltburn.”
Head-scratching nominations included “Godzilla Minus One” for Foreign Language Film (tell us you don’t watch enough international films without telling us you don’t watch international films) and “Wish” for Best Animated Feature.
The awards ceremony finally found a television network earlier this month as The CW came on board to broadcast the ceremony on Sunday, January 14 at 7 PM. Last year’s ceremony on The CW landed only 900,000 viewers, the ceremony’s lowest audience for a non-virtual event.
