Billy Crystal Stars In A New Apple TV+ Psychological Thriller

Oct 1, 2024

If you’re a fan of Billy Crystal, you’d probably be excited to know the comedian is leading an upcoming Apple TV+ series, “Before.” However, this isn’t a comedy. In fact, when you look at the first trailer for the show, there isn’t a joke to be found.

As seen in the trailer, “Before” is a psychological thriller about a child psychiatrist who is dealing with the psychological damage of losing his wife. That’s when he meets a troubled young boy who may or may not have ties to his past. Again, this is very different than what you might expect from Crystal, as he is much better known for his lighthearted comedies.
Joining Billy Crystal in the cast are Judith Light, Jacobi Jupe, and Rosie Perez. The series is showrun by producer Sarah Thorp. She’s probably best known for writing the 2019 remake of “Jacob’s Ladder.” She has also worked on various TV shows.

Here’s the synopsis:
“Before” stars Billy Crystal as Eli, a child psychiatrist who, after recently losing his wife, Lynn (Judith Light), encounters a troubled young boy, Noah (Jacobi Jupe), who seems to have a haunting connection to Eli’s past. As Eli attempts to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens.
