‘Black Panther 3’ Reportedly Sets February 2028 Release Date
Mar 30, 2025
The Black Panther franchise is officially getting a new installment, as it seems Marvel Studios has already set a release date for another MCU sequel. The movie series faced the ultimate tragedy when Chadwick Boseman passed away before the making of Wakanda Forever, but the mantle has been carried over to the next generation. Marvel won’t be shutting the gates of Wakanda anytime, either, as Avengers: Doomsday won’t be the only time audiences are treated to the beloved superhero.
According to Daniel Richtman, Black Panther 3 is set to hit theaters in February 2028. Ryan Coogler is set to return as the director, while Letitia Wright is expected to reprise her role as Shuri aka Black Panther. That release window puts it ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars, which is releasing in theaters on May 7, 2027. Many have speculated that a new actor will take over the T’Challa role, but nothing has been confirmed on that front. However, it may not be a coincidence that it takes place after the end of the Multiverse Saga, before the start of the Mutant era of the MCU.

Denzel Washington is all but confirmed to feature in the third Black Panther installment as well, but it is unclear who he is set to play. Fans have speculated that he will make his MCU debut as the beloved mutant villain (and sometimes anti-hero) Magneto. After all, the last Black Panther villain was also the mutant Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta. Coogler is said to be hard at work writing the next film, but more news could be revealed later this year during San Diego Comic-Con.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Confirmed to Feature ‘Black Panther’ Stars
Walt Disney Studios
As Avengers: Doomsday begins in the United Kingdom, Marvel Studios has revealed the cast of the highly-anticipated sequel. Among the confirmed actors thus far are Letitia Wright and Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who are expected to reprise their roles as Shuri and Namor, respectively. It seems Doomsday will feature the main characters of every solo film from the past Multiverse Saga, including the upcoming film Thunderbolts*. The Russo Brothers are returning to the MCU after a brief, rocky hiatus away from the Avengers franchise.
While plot details remain uncertain, here is the cast list thus far: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. As of this writing, a Marvel Studios livestream is currently unveiling more cast members from Doomsday, and other Black Panther-related characters could be confirmed soon.
Previously leaked concept art revealed that a Black Panther variant would be featured in the Avengers sequels, although the Russos were quick to squash that rumor. The seemingly spoiler-filled imagery was a nothingburger, apparently. Still, with rumors swirling that a recast is coming, Marvel Studios could be considering walking back their commitment to not revealing a new T’Challa actor, and the Multiverse could be the best way to do so.
