Bob Odenkirk’s Sheriff Is Keeping A Close Eye On His Town In New Action Movie Normal [Exclusive]
Dec 30, 2025
Bob Odenkirk will star in a new upcoming action movie, Normal, as a sheriff keeping things under control in a sleepy town. Odenkirk’s Ulysses is the temporary sheriff in the focal small town, who discovers a local mystery to be solved after a bank robbery. Normal is directed by Ben Wheatley and written by Derek Kolstad (based on a story by him and Odenkirk). Slated for release on April 17, 2026, Normal also stars Lena Headey, Henry Winkler, Ryan Allen, Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Peter Shinkoda, and Jess McLeod. With the movie being distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, ScreenRant has gotten an exclusive new image from Normal, showcasing Ulysses casually watching over the town, seemingly on a normal and dull snowy day. Check out this new image from Normal below:
April 2026 will also see the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, offering Normal some healthy competition but also some variety to moviegoers. With Kolstad, the famous writer of John Wick, on board, Normal is geared towards fans of Keanu Reeves’ action saga and similar movies, some of which Odenkirk himself has notably starred in. After being immortalized as crooked lawyer Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad franchise, Odenkirk took on the lead role in the one-man army action movie Nobody, also written by Kolstad. Odenkirk reprised the role in 2025’s Nobody 2. The Better Call Saul actor’s noteworthy credits also include The Bear, Little Women, Incredibles 2, The Post, and Fargo. The past experiences of the Normal cast encompass the likes of Game of Thrones (Lena Headey portraying Cersei Lannister for all eight seasons) and movies Violent Night and The Revenant (both featuring Brendan Fletcher). Fellow Nobody alum Billy MacLellan also has a significant supporting role in Normal, as the deputy sheriff, one of the reliable figures the trailer points out.
Normal’s trailer paints the picture of Normal as a “charming, unassuming town” where everything is fairly predictable. But like with John Wick and Nobody, Normal is presenting a paradigm that is tranquil and unremarkable in order to subvert it later, when the action starts, and it falls on the protagonist to save the day, when he was expecting this to be a quiet, uneventful position.
