Born Again Rumored Plot Details Emerge, Will Be Based on ‘Mayor Kingpin’

Dec 12, 2022

Details of the upcoming Daredevil Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, are currently being kept under wraps, but a new rumor claims to reveal the direction of the MCU outing. Known scooper Daniel Richtman (via Twitter user Daredevil Updates) has claimed that Daredevil: Born Again will be based on the 2017-2018 comic book arc, Mayor Fisk, which finds Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin running for mayor of New York City — a political goal that Daredevil is unlikely to be happy about…

Running across Daredevil #595-600, the Mayor Fisk tale finds New York falling to The Kingpin. “Daredevil’s greatest and deadliest adversary is now the city’s newly elected mayor!” the synopsis for Mayor Fisk reads. “And the stage is set for their most unbelievable showdown yet. Matt Murdock has the law and his incredible abilities in his arsenal — but Fisk has an entire city on his side. As the mayor declares Daredevil Public Enemy No. 1, Matt Murdock receives the most incredible offer of his legal career!”

Using his talent for spin and false philanthropy, something that he has demonstrated before in the Daredevil series, Daredevil: Born Again will reportedly find Fisk once again using his resources to convince the people of New York to make the Kingpin of Crime mayor. If that were not already exciting enough, Mayor Fisk finds Matt Murdock appointed Fisk’s deputy mayor. This means that, not only would the series find Murdock playing spy, but would also allow a lot of interaction between beloved actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Mayor Fisk, of course, finds Kingpin waging a war against costumed vigilantes, makings things even harder for Murdock, as well as introducing a new villain in the form of psychopathic murder artist Muse.

Should this be the direction that Daredevil: Born Again chooses to go in, it would certainly provide more than enough action, drama, and intrigue for Daredevil’s triumphant return.

Charlie Cox Has Teased the Clean Slate Nature of Daredevil: Born Again

Marvel Studios / Disney

Daredevil star Charlie Cox recently teased the approach to Daredevil: Born Again, suggesting that the Disney+ series will be a fresh start for the superhero. “And, in a way, what’s great about that is that we potentially get to tell some of the stories over and over again in the same way that they do in the comics, you know,” Cox explained. “Every now and again, they start back at the beginning of Murdock’s journey as a little boy and they tell the whole origin story again. So maybe we’ll get to do that, I don’t know.”

Not much has yet been confirmed about the direction of Daredevil: Born Again, but Marvel Studios has revealed that it will run for a monumental 18 episodes. After appearing as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox will next appear in the Disney+ series, Echo, with Daredevil: Born Again due to follow.

With Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock aka Daredevil now well-and-truly in the MCU following appearances in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, now is a good time to be a fan of the Man Without Fear.

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be released in Spring 2024 on Disney+.
