Born Again’ Season 2 Set Photos Reveal Punisher-Like Task Force
Mar 18, 2025
Daredevil: Born Again only just premiered its first two episodes last week, but Marvel Studios is already filming Season 2 of the long-awaited Disney+ series. The next batch of episodes featuring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock will be a direct continuation of Season 1 and is likely to include several other familiar faces, including Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka Punisher. A new look at the show’s production might have given a major plot point away that spells trouble for the MCU’s ground-level superheroes. Of course, potential spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
In newly surfaced set photos from Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, it seems New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) has taken drastic measures to “protect” the city from masked vigilantes. The former mobster has seemingly created the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, who sport extra armor and a logo strikingly similar to the Punisher’s iconic insignia. Of course, as some fans know, cops using the aforementioned logo have been teased as a plot point for Season 1, but it seems that plot thread will carry over into the second season. Coincidentally enough, the third episode of Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere tonight on Disney+. It’s unclear when the Punisher-Cop storyline will kick in this season, but considering the set images confirm it’s an important part of Season 2, and Fisk is keen on getting rid of vigilantes, fans should expect it to be a major plot point in the coming episodes. We’re not exactly sure how some cops in extra pads and a Punisher logo are going to be able to stop a masked vigilante like Spider-Man, but it’s a scary thought that such a policy is going to be passed in the MCU after those very same heroes saved Earth in the Avengers films.
The Punisher Is Getting His Own Marvel Studios Special Presentation
Disney+
For those worried that Jon Bernthal’s reign as Punisher is going to strictly be limited to Daredevil: Born Again appearances, fret not. The actor is working closely on a new project featuring the ultraviolent superhero, this time as a Marvel Studios Special Presentation. Bernthal recently spoke about the upcoming Disney+ project and how it will feature a story that he thinks “the fans deserve.”
“I care very deeply about Frank, I’m really grateful that I’m getting the opportunity to tell the story that I think the fans deserve. We’re giving it our all and we’re trying to tell a Frank Castle story that we’re going to turn our back on the audience — it’s not going to be easy, it’s not going to be light, and I think it’s the version that this character deserves and I’m just beyond honored and grateful that we get the opportunity.”
And if there is any trepidation about it being a watered-down version of the Netflix series, Bernthal has also calmed those worries. Despite several attempts by Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to get Punisher to relinquish his killing ways, Bernthal assures fans that “Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness.”
“It’s going to be dark; Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness. It’s not going to be easy. I don’t know if that’s the Netflix tone then that’s what it’s going to be. It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.”
