Born Again’ Showrunner Hates ‘She-Hulk’ Walk of Shame Scene
Jan 29, 2025
There are many parts from the Daredevil TV canon that fans want to see in the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, but Matt Murdock’s walk of shame after a one-night stand with She-Hulk isn’t one of them. Thankfully, Born Again’s showrunner, Dario Scardapane, is looking to leave that scene in the past. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock in the new series, bringing with him fan-favorite characters like Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll). Cox has already reprised the role in several MCU projects, including the aforementioned She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, some of his past appearances will have more of an impact on the new series than others.
During an interview with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar+), showrunner Dario Scardapane addressed Daredevil’s past and future in the MCU, and how he wants the character to move past the controversial She-Hulk scene. “Marvel has a master plan, and what you’re doing causes ripple effects,” the showrunner began, both describing the story of Born Again, and hinting at some of the more questionable creative decisions taken with the character in the past. “I would pitch stuff very early, and I would hear that they had other plans.”
Scardapane confirmed that all of Daredevil’s past MCU appearances (Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Echo) are all canon. But some are a bit more canon than others. “You can say that Daredevil is canon in the MCU, those other events happened, but some of them we are not leaning into,” he continued. Not mincing any words, Scardapane said:
“His one-night stand with She-Hulk may be one of those things.”
Why Was Daredevil’s ‘She-Hulk’ Cameo So Controversial?
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law gets a lot of unfair criticism from MCU fans. The series wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some made it out to be, and it is important to note that a lot of backlash came from the vocal minority of review bombers, with bigoted prejudices. However, if you ask an MCU fan to name the worst part of the series, it’s almost a guarantee they will say “Daredevil’s walk of shame.” The series saw Matt Murdock and Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) get together for a one-night stand, before hard cutting to Daredevil making the bare-footed walk of shame home the following morning.

It’s great news for Spider-Man fans.
Fans hated the scene for reducing Murdock, who was the star of the incredibly dark and brutal Daredevil series, to a walking punchline. While the fan base hates the scene, She-Hulk star, Tatiana Maslany loved it and has stated that, if the series were to ever get a second season, she hopes the pair get back together. “I think for sure that she would hit that again,” Maslany joked. She-Hulk has not been renewed for a second season.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on Mar. 5, 2025. The character already has a long future in the MCU, as the series has been renewed for a second season, which begins production before Season 1 is released.
