Brad Pitt Alleged Reaction To Daughter Dropping His Last Name

We’ve had an update about how Brad Pitt apparently feels about the news that one of his daughters has filed to drop his last name — although it seems to have done more damage than good.

In case you missed it, it was widely reported last week that Brad and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Shiloh, recently filed a request in court to legally change her last name from “Jolie-Pitt” to “Jolie.”

In addition to Shiloh, Brad and Angelina share five other children: Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19; Knox, 15; and Vivienne, 15. And though Shiloh is the first to file legally, she certainly isn’t the only one of her siblings to have seemingly attempted to drop “Pitt” from their last name.

The girls’ apparent attempts to distance themselves from their father come after years of rumors that Brad’s relationship with his children was left strained over his and Angelina’s ongoing divorce. The split was believed to have been triggered by an alleged incident on a private jet involving the couple and their children, which took place five days before Angelina filed for divorce.

Neither Brad nor Angelina has publicly commented on Shiloh’s name-change filing, although a report now claims that her father is “aware and upset” by the move.

While it’s worth acknowledging that these quotes were provided anonymously, users online have expressed confusion over the claim that Shiloh’s birth overjoyed Brad because he “always wanted a daughter,” noting that he and Angelina adopted Zahara in 2005, before Shiloh was born.

According to a report from Entertainment Tonight, Angelina “can’t speak” on Shiloh’s name change because her daughter took the legal move into her own hands. However, she certainly knows a thing or two about it, having done the same thing more than 20 years ago.

That’s all we know for now. BuzzFeed has contacted Brad’s representatives for comment, and we’ll keep you updated on any further developments.
