Brad Pitt To Star In New A24 Movie From Conclave Director
Apr 29, 2025
Brad Pitt is set to star in a new movie called The Riders from the director of Conclave. Released in 2024, Conclave was directed by Edward Berger. Prior to this, Berger had directed the German-language film All Quiet on the Western Front. Both of these movies did well, receiving critical acclaim and several Oscar nominations. Meanwhile, Pitt will return to the big screen later this year in Joseph Kosinski’s F1, and he most recently appeared in the Apple TV+ movie Wolfs.
As per Deadline, Berger has set his next film, and it will feature Pitt in the lead role. A24 will distribute and finance the film, which will be titled The Riders. It is an adaptation of the novel by Tim Winton that follows a couple named Fred (Pitt) and Jennifer Scully, who settle into their seemingly serene life with their daughter. Fred’s life later falls apart when only his daughter, not his wife, returns from an international trip. The movie will be written by David Kajganich and produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner.
What This Means For The Riders
Conclave Continues To Succeed
The news about The Riders comes at a particularly good time for Berger. The director is just coming off of last year’s Conclave, whose success has proven to be long-term. Though the movie did not win Best Picture, it made $116.1 million worldwide, which is impressive for a drama film. Following the passing of Pope Francis, the movie has seen a new life on streaming in its move to Prime Video. As such, audiences might be more apt to be interested in Berger’s work.

It is also an exciting chance for the director to work with a wide variety of stars. Conclave already had an impressive cast, which included actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow. With an impressive box office track record, Pitt is even more of an A-lister, which could be good for The Riders. The addition of A24 suggests this will be a prestige drama that has the potential for a meaty performance from Pitt.

In addition to boasting an impressive team, The Riders is also an exciting project for A24. The studio has done well at awards ceremonies in recent years. Last year’s historical epic The Brutalist got 10 Oscar nominations, winning three of them. The Riders could be a good opportunity for Pitt to get another acting nomination, as it seems like a title A24 would be likely to push during awards season since Berger is also heavily involved.
