Summary
The first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World finally confirms details of Harrison Ford’s role.
Giancarlo Esposito also makes MCU debut as a major villain.
Reactions from fans have been largely positive, but the movie continues to carry some controversial elements.
The first trailer for the upcoming MCU sequel Captain America: Brave New World has now been released, and the footage gives away a few exciting SPOILERS. Confirming what many have theorized for some time, the trailer reveals that Hollywood icon Harrison Ford, who will star as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the sequel, will see red and transform into Red Hulk. As is always now the case when a new trailer drops, Marvel fans have quickly taken to social media to share their thoughts, feelings, and rantings about what they’ve seen…
The official reveal that Ford will indeed turn into Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, which sees Anthony Mackie return as Sam Wilson, aka Captain America, is by far one of the most exciting parts of the new trailer. And fans are very on board with the idea of the villainous Hulk finally entering the MCU.

Harrison Ford will take over from the late, great William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross in the Captain America sequel, with the character having now made his way to the White House. So, not only will audiences get to see the Indiana Jones and Star Wars legend turned into a hulking red monster, they will also get to see the acclaimed actor sleazing it up as the corrupt President of the United States.
Captain America 4 Trailer Reveals First Look at Giancarlo Esposito’s MCU Debut
If that were not already enough to persuade Marvel fans that Captain America: Brave New World will be a major MCU event, the trailer also reveals our first look at Better Call Saul star Giancarlo Esposito as another villainous presence. The Breaking Bad actor has long been a fan-favorite for various comic book movie roles, including X-Men leader Charles Xavier, but instead it looks like he will wield a serious arsenal as the mercenary (and occasional S.H.I.E.L.D. agent) George Washington Bridge.
The response to the first footage from Captain America: Brave New World has largely been positive (though there are some mixed reactions, of course) with Marvel fans excited to see Sam Wilson’s journey continue. However, while the action and reveals have impressed, the movie has maintained one hugely controversial element. And the backlash has now begun.
You can check out some more reactions to the trailer below.
