Callum Turner Set To Star in Apple TV+’s Digital Espionage Series NEUROMANCER — GeekTyrant

May 2, 2024

Callum Turner is set to star in Apple TV’s series adaptation of the William Gibson novel Neuromancer. It was originally reported that Robert Pattinson would star in the series, but that’s obviously no longer the case. The 10-episode drama follows “a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”Turner previously worked with Apple TV+ in the World War II series Masters of the Air. This new series project sounds like another great gig for the actor.According to the character breakdowns, “Case is a skilled hacker with a troubled past. His expertise in the technological underground makes him the perfect candidate for the mission, but his journey is fraught with danger and uncertainty.”Case will be joined by Molly: “A female aged 30-45, Molly is a formidable mercenary known for her ruthlessness and combat skills. Operating in the physical realm, she serves as Case’s protector and ally on his mission.”Then there’s Armitage: “A male aged 45-55, Armitage is the enigmatic figure who hires Case for the mission. Former military and mysterious in nature, he brings a sense of gravitas and intrigue to the story.”The description of the first book reads: “The Matrix is a world within the world, a global consensus-hallucination, the representation of every byte of data in cyberspace…“Henry Dorsett Case was the sharpest data-thief in the business, until vengeful former employees crippled his nervous system. But now a new and very mysterious employer recruits him for a last-chance run. “The target: an unthinkably powerful artificial intelligence orbiting Earth in service of the sinister Tessier-Ashpool business clan. With a dead man riding shotgun and Molly, mirror-eyed street-samurai, to watch his back, Case embarks on an adventure that ups the ante on an entire genre of fiction.”The series won the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, and it offers the “first fully-realized glimpse of humankind’s digital future—a shocking vision that has challenged our assumptions about our technology and ourselves, reinvented the way we speak and think, and forever altered the landscape of our imaginations.”Graham Roland will serve as a writer, producer, and showrunner of Neuromancer. He is best known for his work on the hit series Lost and Amazon Studios’ Jack Ryan series. Gibson will also serve as an executive producer and one of the episodes will be directed by J.D. Dillard, who recently helmed the war drama Devotion with Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country) and Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick).Source: Variety
