Marvel merchandise is now the go-to place for first looks at upcoming MCU installments, and some new merch for The Marvels has unveiled the titular trio of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. Shared courtesy of Twitter user Marvel Updates (via umportalgeek), the image offers our first look at the three superheroes, each with their own super-suit and determined look in their eye. You can check out the image of The Marvels below.

Captain Marvel was first introduced in 2019, with Oscar-winner Brie Larson bringing the character to life. The character is introduced to the MCU as an intergalactic warrior separated from her team of Kree warriors and left stranded on Earth. However, her life takes an unusual turn after she teams up with a young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Nick Fury.

While Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau also plays a minor part in Captain Marvel, she enters the MCU fray fully in the Disney+ series WandaVision. An agent of S.W.O.R.D., Monica is imbued with the power to absorb energy after re-entering the Hex, Wanda Maximoff’s alternate reality.

Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel meanwhile made her debut as the star of her own series on Disney+, which finds the teenager coming across a magical bangle that unlocks her ability to harness cosmic energy and create hard light constructs. The series finale threw several curve balls our way, revealing that Kamala is, in fact, mutant before switching her for a very confused Carol Danvers.

After all that, here they are, standing together as the newest Marvel superhero team.

The Marvels Finds the Three Superheroes Inexplicably Swapping Places

Marvel Studios

The Marvels will pick up following the events of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, and finds Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau suddenly swapping places with each other every time they use their powers. The superhero trio must team up to figure out why this is happening, all while no doubt stopping a new villain from destroying the universe.

While we await further details, Brie Larson thinks The Marvels is bonkers. “I feel it’s like, I wish I could talk about it. I can talk about my feelings around it,” she said earlier this year. “I can say that… I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honor it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future. And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers.”

Directed by Nia DaCosta from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell, The Marvels stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, alongside Samuel L. Jackson. The likes of Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur will reprise their respective roles from Ms. Marvel, with Zawe Ashton set to play the villain of the piece. It has also now been confirmed that the Flerken known as Goose, who resembles a cat, will also appear in the MCU outing.

The Marvels is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 28, 2023, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
