For 10 seasons, What Not to Wear was a TLC staple. Led by Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, the dynamic duo guided participants through a head-to-toe makeover through instruction on style and fashion. In 2013, when the show ended, the pair went their separate ways, and fans were eager for something to fill the void. What they got were years of clickbait stories about a rift in their relationship. It’s now 2025, and reality television’s favorite duo is back with a brand-new series, Wear Whatever the F You Want.
While they acknowledge the similarities to the original series, the new one, now streaming on Amazon Video, has had its own makeover. The rules this time around are laxed. Stacy and Clinton are on a mission to help their clients feel comfortable and confident. “Nowadays, those rules are just gone. You get to determine what you want to look like and what you want to present to the rest of the world, and that’s why this is really exciting to do,” Clinton revealed.
Clinton Kelly and Stacy London Reveal the History Behind the New Show

Right off the bat, I had to ask, “How does it feel to finally be back?” They both laughed as Clinton said, “It’s only been thirteen years!” as Stacy followed up with, “But we’ve been waiting for the last six for this to happen.” Clearly, the reality dream team has been chomping at the bit to share their excitement for their newest collaboration. A lot has changed in the world of style and fashion.
As Clinton points out, “It’s like a completely different world than it was…all the rules have gone out the window. It’s kind of incredible. There were actual rules back in the day when we did What Not to Wear. If you wanted to get ahead in your career, or you wanted to meet the ‘perfect’ guy. Nowadays, those rules are just gone. You get to determine what you want to look like and what you want to present to the rest of the world, and that’s why this is really exciting to do.” Stacy said, “We talk a lot about the rise of social media. That sort of took away the need for fashion experts because everyone became their own expert.”
With the rules out the window, Clinton and Stacy are empowering people as they help them figure out what they want for themselves. It’s now a client-led process. With the rules stripped away, the key word of this show is empower. “Style is a form of communication. Communication is power. When you can align your visual style, your visual communication with everything else you’re putting out in the world, the things that you say, the things that you do, the things you post on social media, you can really achieve whatever you want,” Clinton said.
Stacey shared that the past used to be about context. “There are things that kind of dictate what it can be, but when we talk to people about their fantasy, the way they always wanted to dress, and they’ve been too afraid or too unsure, or just not able to do it on their own, that’s when you take somebody’s deepest wishes and make them a reality,” said Stacy.
The Pair Set the Record Straight On Their ‘Feud’

For years, there have been clickbait stories about Stacy and Clinton’s alleged feud. But they are here to reveal if there was any truth to the fodder. “There was a little bit of truth,” Clinton said. “This is what we like to say, we did so many episodes of What Not to Wear together, so many, for ten years. For the first five years, we barely had a day off, so I want anybody out there listening to this, anybody watching this to take your best friend, they’re your favorite person in the whole world, sit next to them for ten years and try not to get into a fight.”
Stacy immediately smiled, linked arms with Clinton, and said, “Try it.” She continued, “The thing is, we got really annoyed about the clickbait because so many people made money off of the idea that we had a huge feud, which was never the case. I never spoke to the press, not once. I remember thinking this was so blown out of proportion, and just another way to stir up.” She called the gossip “so stupid.” And she’s right.
The idea of the show was the brainchild of Clinton Kelly. He was the one that helped bring their reunion to fruition. He called Stacy to ask if she would do this show, and the rest is history. “For us, this is both a professional and personal reunion,” Stacy said. “I said, in a whole chapter of a book, you know, one of the things I said was, ‘Stacy and I had a love-hate relationship.’
The clickbait was, ‘Clinton Kelly hates Stacy London.’ What?! That’s not what I said!” Clinton exclaimed. “When you click on clickbait, what you’re really doing is affecting people’s lives, whether you realize it or not.” If you need proof of their friendship, Stacy suggested watching their peanut butter and chocolate video.
“I think it was an even more joyful environment. It was a different production company. Now we’re on a streamer. These are very different things. Because we weren’t dealing with the same crew and the same channel, it really felt like we were doing something different in a way that we know how to do it together,” Stacy says of getting back into the studio in work mode. “It was really fun to go to work every day. I laughed all the time.” Clinton pointed out that even when they were in an argument, they were laughing. Most of the time it’s about their collective stress about the same things. “It’s really brother-sister kind of arguing,” Stacy pointed out.

Stacy and Clinton Reveal What It’s Like Watching Their Clients

The joy of Wear Whatever the F You Want is watching the clients go on this amazing person journey. For Stacy and Clinton, it’s a great feeling to watch them light up. “It’s so wonderful. It really is. To be the fairy godmothers for somebody and help them see themselves in a new way, it’s like you can’t help but get a vicarious thrill for them,” Clinton said. “And then when you get to see them test drive the outfit, like really take the look out in the streets of New York and see how other people react to it, we get butterflies for them.”
Stacy said, “When someone comes out like that, when there’s that sparkle in their eye, I try to remind people, you already know you look good…a lot of people think they don’t know how to dress, but when they put something on that they love, they love it! It’s just a reminder that you can trust your instincts.”
I floated out the idea that when they’re ready for Season 2, they have a client in-waiting: me. I asked Clinton and Stacy about what it is about this project that helps people find their confidence. “Once you realize that the power is in your hands to craft the narrative you want to craft, and once you realize that you take steps toward doing that and the world responds to it, it’s the snowball effect,” Clinton said.
“I’m mixing my metaphors, but we’re the fairy godmothers pushing the snowball!” To help tease viewers to tune in to the show, I asked the pair if there was one moment of the season that they can’t wait for viewers to see. “Clinton on a stripper pole,” Stacy confidently shared. “It’s actually a good thing I didn’t do what you did, as it turns out. Clinton the stripper pole. It’s Emmy-worthy.” Well, if that’s not a reason to check out Wear Whatever the F You Want, I don’t know what is!
