Corey Hawkins & Willem Dafoe Star In Thrill Premiering On Hulu This Fall

Primarily known for his novels, Walter Mosley has had several forays into film and TV over the past three decades, including adaptations of “Devil In A Blue Dress” and “The Last Days Of Ptomley Grey.” Now, another one of his books gets adapted for a new film hitting Hulu this Fall.

Based on a novel by Mosley, “The Man In My Basement” stars Corey Hawkins as a desperate man who makes a questionable deal with Willem Dafoe‘s businessman that unveils a terrifying truth about his family legacy.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Man In My Basement,” courtesy of Hulu:
In the African American neighborhood of Sag Harbor, New York, Charles Blakey (Corey Hawkins) is out of work, out of luck and on the verge of foreclosure on his ancestral home. A knock on the door from a mysterious businessman, Anniston Bennet (Willem Dafoe), brings a bizarre and lucrative proposition; rent his dusty stand-up basement out for the summer and receive enough money to clear his debts for good. Once Charles accepts, he finds himself led down a terrifying path that confronts his family’s ghosts and locks the men in a terrifying puzzle, at the heart of it race, the source of their traumas and the root of all evil.
Along with Hawkins and Dafoe, “The Man In My Basement” also stars Anna Diop, Jonathan Ajayi, Gershwyn Eustache Jr., Pamela Nomvete, and Tamara Lawrence.
Nadio Laif directs “The Man In My Basement,” and co-adapts Mosley’s novel with the novelist for the big screen. Producers on the pic include Diane Houslin, John Giwa-Amu, Dave Bishop, and Len Rowlands.
