Dan Harmon’s Latest Animated Series Hits Apple TV+ In August

Jul 25, 2023

What if you went every day saying the inside things you’re not supposed to say out loud? That’s kinda what it’s like to exist in “Strange Planet.”
As seen in the trailer for “Strange Planet,” the new Apple TV+ adult animated series takes place in a world very similar to our own but filled with blue alien-looking beings instead of humans. But they still exist in a world that has coffee shops, air travel, dogs, etc… The big difference is that these beings lack the awareness to keep things inside. So, what ends up happening is these characters have conversations with others that just plainly point out just how absurd humans are. Boy, that sounds absolutely dull, but really it’s funny. I promise.

Voicing these characters are comedy all-stars such as Tunde Adebimpe (“Rachel Getting Married”), Demi Adejuyigbe (“The Amber Ruffin Show”), Lori Tan Chinn (“Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens”), Danny Pudi (“Community”), and Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”). “Strange Planet” is co-created and executive produced by Dan Harmon (“Rick and Morty,” “Community”). He is joined by Nathan W. Pyle, who is the best-selling author of the inspiration for the series.
“Strange Planet” debuts on Apple TV+ on August 9. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Based on the New York Times #1 bestselling graphic novel and social media phenomenon of the same name, “Strange Planet” is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own. Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions.
