Danny McBride & His Crew Return For More Utter Ridiculousness In June
May 10, 2023
HBO is about to lose one of its most popular comedy series this month, as “Barry” comes to a close. But in June, it appears that “The Righteous Gemstones” is returning to pick up some of that comedy slack.
As seen in the teaser for “The Righteous Gemstones” Season 3, the televangelist family you love to laugh at returns with even more ridiculousness. This time, after finally taking over the church, the Gemstone children are finding out that it’s really difficult to fill the shoes of their father. Oh yeah, and there’s a new group of ultra-right-wing, gun-toting, religious folks involved. Hilarity ensues.

Though it doesn’t have the awards season recognition as the aforementioned “Barry,” “The Righteous Gemstones” definitely is one of the best series on HBO right now. And as “Barry” ventured into more serious content, you can always rely on ‘Gemstones’ to provide utter silliness.
As always, “Righteous Gemstones” is created, written, and executive produced by Danny McBride. He also stars in the series alongside John Goodman, Edi Patterson, and Adam Devine. Adding yet another job to his many on this series, McBride is also one of the directors alongside Jody Hill and David Gordon Green.
“The Righteous Gemstones” Season 3 debuts on HBO on June 18. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. When the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.
