David Chase Teaming Up With ‘A Teacher’ Filmmaker Hannah Fidell For A New FX Series

Mar 8, 2023

After creating one of the greatest TV shows of all time, with HBO’s “The Sopranos,” you’d think David Chase would have turned that into a golden ticket to make years and years of whatever TV shows or films he wanted. Instead, he wrote and directed the 2012 film, “Not Fade Away,” and wrote the ‘Sopranos’ prequel, “The Many Saints of Newark.” That’s it. However, it appears Chase is getting back into the TV game alongside a fairly surprising collaborator.

According to THR, David Chase is teaming up with filmmaker Hannah Fidell to co-write and co-create a new series for FX. The exact plot details are unknown at this time, but apparently, the series is based on an unproduced script Chase wrote years ago. Fidell is expected to use her skills to update the script a bit more for production.
Fidell is probably best known for her acclaimed film, “A Teacher,” which was then turned into a TV series that she wrote, directed, and showrun, also called “A Teacher.” More recently, she directed episodes of series such as “Pam & Tommy,” “Casual,” and “The Act.” Chase, as mentioned, is probably best known for “The Sopranos,” but prior to that was a TV veteran, working on series such as “The Rockford Files” and “Kolchak: The Night Stalker.”

It’s unclear just how far along this series is in the developmental process. So, we’re not sure when we might see the show appear on FX. However, with David Chase involved, this will definitely be a series that many people will be anticipating.
