One of the biggest box office flops in the DCEU has quickly sped its way up to great heights on Netflix. Following a change in licensing from Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix is now able to stream a variety of the studio’s movies and TV shows, with last year’s The Flash finding immediate interest among audiences and fast climbing the Netflix charts.
This week, The Flash found himself at the #2 spot in the Netflix Top 10, with audiences clearly hankering for a taste of the DCEU before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU begins next year with the Superman reboot. Released in June last year, The Flash sees worlds collide when superhero Barry Allen uses his powers to return to the past and try to save his mother. Instead, Barry unleashes a multiverse of madness, becoming trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, no superheroes exist, and a very different Batman is now retired.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash sees Justice League star Ezra Miller return as Barry Allen, aka The Flash alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue. The most exciting element for DC fans, though, was the return of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, with the actor once again sporting the cape and cowl after more than three decades.
While the movie was met with reasonable reviews (relatively speaking when it comes to the DCEU) and stands at 63% from critics and a much more positive 83% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, The Flash was a major box-office bomb. Earning just $271.3 million worldwide, The Flash quickly became one of the lowest grossing DC movies ever, with reports indicating that Warner Bros. may have lost as much as $200 million on the project.
Clearly, despite the underwhelming box office and the slow death of the DCEU, audiences are still eager to tune in and watch The Flash at work when they can it at home.
What Other Movies Are Popular on Netflix Right Now?
Taking the #1 spot on Netflix is the action thriller Trigger Warning. Starring Jessica Alba as a Special Forces commando who returns to her hometown to take over the family bar after the death of her father, the movie follows her as she takes the fight to the criminal gangs that now run rampant.

Despite scathing reviews from critics, and a score of 19% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Trigger Warning has seen huge popularity on Netflix. Achieving 25.7 million views and 45.9 million hours watched, the action outing now sits at the tippy top of the streaming giant’s list.
The rest of the Top 10, meanwhile, is made up of several family favorites, including the box office hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Minions, Shrek, and The LEGO Batman Movie. The Netflix original Hit Man also continues to see strong viewership, with the Glen Powell-led black comedy about a mild-mannered professor moonlighting as a fake hit man having received critical acclaim.
