DC Studio’s Animated Task Force M (For Monster) Premieres In December [SDCC]
Jul 26, 2024
Sure, everyone is excited about James Gunn’s “Superman” as the kickoff of his massive DCU reboot, but the true debut of the new universe happens sooner with this year’s “Creature Commandos.” And at San Diego Comic-Con, we got our first real look at the animated series.
As seen in the teaser, Creature Commandos shares much of the same style and tone Gunn has brought to his other superhero projects, such as “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad.” Basically, the series is about a group of disparate characters—Rick Flag Sr., Doctor Phosphorus, Weasel, the Bride of Frankenstein, Eric Frankenstein, G.I. Robot, and Nina Mazursky—as they battle bad guys.

The voice cast features Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. The series is produced by Gunn and his DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran. However, judging by what Gunn has said about the co-CEO situation, he handles all of the creative. So, “Creature Commandos” is a true James Gunn production.
Here’s the synopsis:
CREATURE COMMANDOS tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails…they’re your last, worst option.
In addition to offering a first look at the series, we also got work on when we might see “Creature Commandos” debut on Max, which is now slated to debut in December. You can watch the teaser below.
