If you’re not familiar with the original run of “Dexter,” Hall plays a blood splatter expert who works for the Miami Police Department and moonlights as a serial killer, who focuses on taking out other serial killers that have been able to evade law enforcement and justice. After his murder spree was exposed, Dexter went on the run with his son, Harrison, leading to the events of both “New Blood” and “Resurrection.”
In the original series, Dexter consistently speaks with his late adoptive detective father, played by Remar, who helps him navigate his murder spree and avoid getting caught by police. That plot device has allowed characters who have been killed and died in the past to return.
Paramount+ has provided the following synopsis for the new series:
A continuation of ‘Dexter: New Blood,’ takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together.
