Dine Like a Movie Star

Mar 7, 2023

Based on the outskirts of Congleton Pecks restaurant is a little Cheshire gem serving great high-quality AA rosette fine dining food for affordable prices. Here is our Pecks Restaurant review.

For my dad’s birthday, we visited Pecks, a restaurant that I haven’t been to in over 10 years. Ten minutes after walking in I was met with a more refurbished and modern decor and the same great-tasting food and customer service that the establishment is known for.
With various different times of the day serving different menus, we picked up the lunch menu which consisted of 3 courses for £29. Considering the type of quality food you are getting I thought this was a wonderful price and even included some free bread with treacle butter to ease you into the taste experience of what’s to come.
The restaurant has a very diverse wine list but the wine wasn’t on the cards today as I settled down with a lovely Aspall cider which was actually really smooth and fruity. I started to relax, was handed the menu by our lovely waitress and gazed at the mouth-watering selection of starts, mains and desserts that lay before my very eyes.

Instantly the Coronation Glazed Pork Belly, Featherblade of Beef and the Blueberry & Oreo Cheesecake leapt off the page and smacked me in the lips. I placed my order within seconds and now the wait was on.
Would Pecks live up to my last visit (on my 21st birthday) would it be as memorable, as incredible, as delightful?
Menus change monthly so the image above will most likely expire by the time you even read this article but this is done purely to incorporate the best seasonal produce available. All dishes are freshly prepared and have this lovely classic feel to them with an edge of simplicity but the proof is in the pudding (quite literally) as taste takes precedence over portion size, as is the case with many restaurants such as this.
Well, at least, that’s what I thought until I was handed the biggest cheesecake wedge this side of Cheshire!
Starter – Coronation Glazed Pork Belly

With aromatic Indian flavours, this starter certainly packed a punch despite its small size. The lovely curry emulsion and spiced butter crumb had this tinge of spice with a lovely crisp texture and the pork belly wasn’t in any way chewy and almost melted in your mouth effortlessly.
Mains – Featherblade of Beef, Griddied Red Onion and Dehydrated Carrot

My knife hadn’t even touched the beef and it was falling apart, it was like beef butter and with that onion grilled to perfection and even a little side potato, I couldn’t believe the flavour explosion from such a dish.
The beautiful sauce complimented everything on the plate and whilst the dehydrated carrot didn’t have much flavour of note it added a unique bite to an otherwise perfect dish.
Dessert – Blueberry and Oreo Cheesecake

Normally cheesecake is served in very small portions due to its richness and the fact it can be quite sickly. Not at Pecks. Here, take a slab!
This cake was decadent and flavoursome but my god was it a large portion to the point where it was a little too rich to put away. The Oreo crumb was such a nice touch and it was the perfect end to a perfect three-course meal.
I’ve been to many a fancy restaurant and for the price Pecks always seems to deliver food quality far exceeding the price you pay.

I’ve had wagyu steaks tougher than the beef here, I’ve had cakes at the fanciest dessert shops in the world that haven’t had as much flavour as the Oreo Cheesecake and that starter was the perfect introduction to a perfect experience.
From the friendly staff to a wonderful atmosphere that never feels intimating or bougey, Pecks Restaurant is the perfect little Cheshire gem to grab a bite to eat for lunch or indulge in some of their more intricate offerings in the evenings.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our little Pecks Restaurant review. If you’d like to find out more about Pecks Restuarant by visiting their official website at – https://www.pecksrest.co.uk/
