DOOMSDAY May Introduce an Unexpected Superhero Team and Script Reportedly Still Being Written — GeekTyrant

May 4, 2025

The Russo Bros. may have kicked off production on Avengers: Doomsday recently, but behind the scenes, things are a little messier than expected. According to a new report, the script isn’t actually finished, and they’re apparently rewriting it on the fly. That chaotic energy might not be as alarming as it sounds if you’ve followed Marvel’s filmmaking history. Insider @MyTimeToShineH claims: “To answer everyone’s question: yes, there is a script, but they’re going to keep rewriting it every day on set because it’s not done DONE. Like it’s not as good as they would want it to be.” Marvel Studio has operated like this on pretty much all of their films, except for maybe James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, because he likes working with a 100% completed script before shooting. On top of that, it’s rumored that the Exiles are reportedly set to appear in the film. That would be a wild addition. Traditionally tied to the X-Men corner of Marvel, the Exiles are a multiversal team made up of characters plucked from alternate timelines and realities, tasked with fixing “hiccups” across the Multiverse. This sounds the Resistance team from Deadpool & Wolverine, but What If…? Season 3 has also been laying the groundwork for a version of the Exiles, featuring characters like Captain Carter, Kahhori, Storm, and Byrdie. When it comes to potential lineups, the comics offer a sprawling roster that includes Spider-Man, Daredevil, Scarlet Witch, Morph, Sabretooth, and Storm, who have all served as Exiles at one point.Given the MCU’s current chaos with collapsing universes and Incursions, there’s a good chance this new team will be packed with familiar faces from destroyed realities. It’s a interesting way to tie together multiple Marvel projects while also giving the audience an emotional punch of seeing fan-favorite characters in new ways.Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following in May 2027.
