Doomsday’ Star Chris Hemsworth Preps for MCU Return in New Training Footage
May 5, 2025
Thor star Chris Hemsworth
is back in action, with the actor and MCU staple sharing an intense video of him back in training in preparation to once again don the armor and red cape of the “Strongest Avenger” as he returns for Avengers: Doomsday. Hemsworth took to social media to share footage of his workout, which sees him beating seven bells out of a punch bag, with the footage being joined by the caption, “A little Avengers pre game warm up, coming in hot.”
Throwing a series of punches and knees, Hemsworth is once again in superhero shape as he prepares to take on his former ally, Robert Downey Jr., who will switch sides in the Avengers sequel and bring the villainous Doctor Doom to life. Based on this training footage, Doom could be in for a bad time when he comes face-to-face with Hemsworth’s Asgardian Avenger.

Have some of the big surprises of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ already been spoiled, or is everyone being played?
Hemsworth has become the pinnacle of what an actor can achieve when pushing themselves to look like a comic book superhero come real. While his physique is pretty much unachievable for anyone who isn’t a well-paid Hollywood actor, with us normies lacking the personal trainers, nutritionists, and everything else that goes with being an A-list actor, Hemsworth nonetheless continues to impress when bringing Thor to life. And it looks like Avengers: Doomsday will be no different.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Due to Hit Theaters on May 1, 2026
Alongside Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr., Avengers: Doomsday will boast a stacked ensemble cast of familiar Marvel faces. From both the MCU and elsewhere. The official cast has now been announced (though there is likely more to come), with several predictable names, such as Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and Paul Rudd, being confirmed. However, alongside the ones we all expected, there were several surprises.
Joining Captain America and Thor, several members from Fox’s original X-Men universe will return for the Avengers outing. This includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops. And their inclusion has many thinking that, rather than an adaptation of any Doctor Doom arcs, Avengers: Doomsday is instead really an “Avengers vs. X-Men” movie.
Directed by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame’s Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday stars a huge ensemble cast that so far includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars due for release on May 7, 2027, both as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
