Dorothy Star Reveals Full Face On Wicked Set As She Breaks Her Silence On Role In For Good
Nov 25, 2025
Warning: This article contains spoilers for 2025’s Wicked: For Good, now in theaters.Wicked: For Good’s Dorothy actor has broken her silence on her role in the hit movie musical. Dorothy is a key character in Wicked: For Good, which covers the second act of the iconic Broadway show of the same name. It is in this phase of the musical where the events really coincide with The Wizard of Oz. In other cases, characters in Wicked: For Good turn into Wizard of Oz characters. Specifically, Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) becomes the Scarecrow, and Boq (Ethan Slater) ends up turning into the Tin Man after a spell gone wrong. But Dorothy is an outsider in Oz, and the identity of her actor stayed secret for a long while amid the press for Wicked: For Good. Now, Bethany Weaver has spoken about her Wicked experience via Instagram. Weaver is very appreciative of her time on the set of Wicked, saying: “What an honour it has been to walk on the yellow brick road with my fellow Witch Hunters.” She goes on to thank Universal and director Jon M. Chu.
Alongside the sweet caption, Weaver includes a series of set photos, which show her full face while she is in her Dorothy costume. This includes pictures of her with Slater and Bailey, as well as Oscar, the dog who plays Toto.
For a while ahead of Wicked: For Good’s release, fans theorized that Dorothy would be played by Abigail and Matilda star Alisha Weir. This was heightened by ambiguous comments that both Weir and her sister made that suggested that she might be the one in the role. It was not until last week that the production confirmed, for a final time, that these rumors were not true. Instead, Weaver plays the role of the iconic Dorothy Gale, who further shapes events in Oz. However, an interesting element of the big hype surrounding Dorothy’s appearance in Wicked: For Good is the fact that the character does not actually have as major a role as one might expect from a Wizard of Oz-inspired universe. Rather, Dorothy does not have any full lines, and her face is barely seen. Without credits, she might be unrecognizable as Weaver, as she is mainly seen in profile and in long shots. Despite her appearances being brief, however, it is still extremely significant to be a part of Wicked: For Good, in any capacity. Recording-breaking already, this is one of the biggest movies of the year so far, and could bring other opportunities for Weaver now that people know she was affiliated with the project.
