Dune: Part Two set footage proves Zendaya is actually in this one a lot. Directed once again by Denis Villeneuve, the upcoming sequel to 2021’s Dune continues to chronicle the journey of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen as he wages war against House Harkonnen. The Dune: Part Two cast also includes the return of Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem in their respective roles. Newcomers include Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV.
Now, ahead of the Dune: Part Two release date in March, some set footage shared by the official DuneMovie account on TikTok shows off Zendaya’s increased presence in the sequel, coupled with comments from the Chani actor.
The footage shows Zendaya filming and fooling around on the set of Dune: Part Two, as the actor praises her co-stars and the use of practical sets. Read her full comments below:
Being on these sets with these incredibly talented people, it absolutely surpasses any dream I’ve ever had. We joke, but we just, we have a lot of fun. There are so many practical sets. I step into a set where I feel like I’m already on a different planet. It’s so special what we’re doing.
Why Zendaya Is In Dune: Part Two A Lot More
Since she was already a well-known quantity from the MCU’s Spider-Man movies and her Emmy-winning role in Euphoria, it was widely assumed that Zendaya was one of the stars of Dune. Therefore, unsuspecting audiences were surprised when Chani only appeared sparingly through Paul’s visions, with the two only meeting in person during the Dune ending, which set up Chani’s increased role in the sequel. In turn, Dune: Part Two, which adapts the second half of Frank Herbert’s novel, will correct the issue of Chani’s limited screen time.
Related Dune 2 Is Already Correcting The First Movie’s Zendaya Problem The new trailer for Dune: Part Two has been released, and the preview proves that the upcoming film is fixing one mistake involving Zendaya.
As revealed by the Dune: Part Two trailers, the sequel will focus heavily on Paul and Chani’s romantic relationship. While the Fremen warrior develops an undying love for Paul, she doesn’t appear to accept him entirely as the prophet, proclaiming that the Bene Gesserit uses the prophecy to enslave the Fremen. This scene, along with many more, should give Zendaya her well-deserved chance to shine in the sequel when Dune: Part Two hits theaters soon.
Dune: Part Two releases in theaters on March 1.
