Dwayne Johnson Doubles Down on Black Adam Versus Superman

Jan 24, 2023

Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is eager to see the Man in Black take on the Man of Steel.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Hollywood superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has doubled down on his intention to give audiences a Black Adam versus Superman showdown. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Johnson continued to keep things a little close to his colossal chest but did suggest that when Black Adam and Superman meet, it may not, in fact, be a showdown at all.

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I think the question is, should it be the showdown? I don’t know if that’s the way to go. And when fans watch Black Adam and they see the end, and they really pay attention, as I know they will… as they pay attention to the words that were said, they pay attention to the nuance of the looks. We’ll let that lead us.”

Rumors have been quickly spreading that the final moments of Black Adam will see Henry Cavill reprise the role of Superman, with Johnson even suggesting here that these rumors may indeed be accurate. Whether the Man of Steel does appear in Black Adam remains to be seen, but Johnson is adamant that the DC antihero’s debut is the first brick in building the DC universe.

“We can’t go right there right away. Now we’ve gotten to a great place where we’ve delivered for the audience. And when I say ‘we’re listening to the audience,’ they know we mean it. And when we say, ‘we’re building up the DC Universe,’ we mean it. This is what we mean. And when we say, ‘welcome home,’ you know who I’m talking about.”

Johnson has been discussing a potential Black Adam versus Superman battle far too much for any of this to be coincidental. The action star has even revealed what he would expect to see should the two all-powerful DC icons ever meet. “I think Black Adam lands the first punch. Now, I don’t know if Black Adam lands the last punch. I grew up DC boy. I love Superman. I love Superman, and I still do, clearly,” Jonson said earlier this week. “I can see things so clearly, on how that scene looks like, that that scene looks like, what that film looks like, what the next three films look like. Now, whether or not that comes to fruition, that always helps when you have that kind of clarity.”

Will the Black Adam Post Credits Scene Bring Back Henry Cavill as Superman?

Warner Bros. Pictures

A recent scoop claims to reveal details of how Superman will be brought back into the fray. “Waller tells Black Adam he better not leave Khandaq. That it’s his prison now. He says something like “Or what!? there’s no one on this planet that can stop me.” And she says in that case she’ll get someone not from this planet to deal with him,” the alleged details begin.

“Out of the smoke and shadows you see a figure wearing a cape fly down, it’s Cavill and he tells Adam it’s been a while since someone’s made the world this nervous and they should talk,” the details conclude, revealing that yes, Henry Cavill has finally been brought back for more as the Man of Steel.

Thankfully, audiences do not have to wait too long to find out how accurate all of this is, with Black Adam scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
