ECHO Director Reveals Series Will Feature “a Number of Cameos” From The MCU — GeekTyrant

Jan 29, 2024

Some new details have surfaced regarding Marvel’s upcoming series Echo. According to series director Sydney Freeland, the show is going to include several cameos from the MCU. We already know that Daredevil will make an appearance and recently saw a fight scene between him and Echo. As for the other cameos, the director told TV Line:“There are a number of cameos in our series, and fans of the MCU will see characters from other films and shows that they recognize. But at the same time, you don’t have to have done your homework coming into this. People who aren’t familiar with the MCU can still come in and watch this.”It’ll be interesting to see what other characters end up popping into the series. It seems like some fans are hoping to see Spider-Man swing into action, but if that happens, there’s a better chance of seeing it in Daredevil: Born Again, which is rumored to lead into the events of Spider-Man 4. But, those are all just early rumors that may end up being nothing. What other MCU characters do you think will show up in Echo? Are there any characters that you’d like to see appear in the series from the Marvel films or TV shows? The series centers on Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she “struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations tied to a life of crime as successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode, we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”Echo will be the first project under a new banner known as Marvel Spotlight, and Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum said: “Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, and in the case of Echo, focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity. Just like comics fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what’s happening in Maya’s story.”Echo is developed by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers on the show. The series also stars Charlie Cox, Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery Jacobs, and Graham Greene. All five episodes will drop on Disney+ and Hulu on April 9th, 2024.
