And “Dr. Death” has a mega-talented actor playing the show’s new lead: Edgar Ramírez. Ramírez plays Macchiaraini against Mandy Moore‘s Benita Alexander, the investigative journalist who helped take down the fraudulent surgeon in real life.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Dr. Death” Season 2, courtesy of Peacock:
This season of Dr. Death, based on the Wondery podcast, follows “Miracle Man” Paolo Macchiarini, a charming surgeon renowned for his innovative operations. When investigative journalist Benita Alexander approaches him for a story, the line between personal and professional begins to blur, changing her life forever. As she learns how far Paolo will go to protect his secrets, a group of doctors halfway across the world make shocking discoveries of their own that call everything about Paolo into question.
Along with Ramírez and Moore, “Dr. Death” Season 2 also stars Luke Kirby, Ashley Madekwe, and Gustaf Hammarsten.  Ashely Michel Hoban serves as writer and showrunner on the series.  Jennifer Morrison directs the first four episodes of the season, with Laura Besley helming the last four. Other executive producers on the series include Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Taylor Latham through Escape Artists, and Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez, and Marshall Lewy through Wondery.
