Ella Purnell Makes a Killer Comeback in First Trailer for ‘Sweetpea’ Season 2
Aug 26, 2026
Ella Purnell has firmly cemented herself as one of the most versatile and captivating actors on the small screen, capable of transitioning seamlessly between starkly different worlds. She previously broke global streaming records on Prime Video, playing Lucy MacLean, the wide-eyed and inherently moral vault dweller navigating the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the acclaimed video game adaptation Fallout. In the same year, she pivoted sharply from Lucy’s unyielding optimism and wholesome innocence to star in the lead role of Starz and Sky’s darkly comic thriller Sweetpea, where she delivered a chilling performance as Rhiannon Lewis, an overlooked wallflower who builds a “coming-of-rage” confidence through a twisted string of murders. Now she is back, and her body count is rising in the first look at her killer comeback. Sky and Starz unveiled a new trailer for Sweetpea Season 2 today (shared below), teasing more twists, sharper satire, and an even deeper dive into Lewis’ unhinged mind as she leans further into her dark alter ego. Picking up in the wake of her bloody exploits last season, the footage highlights the juggling act she is tangled up in, as she tries to navigate a new promotion, a romantic rebound, and a copycat killer threatening to expose her double life.
As her kill list mounts, one haunting question echoes loudly from Rhiannon’s past: Is she truly just a monster? The answer might lie somewhere within the escalating chaos of the second season. The vengeful vigilante’s sophomore outing introduces a fresh wave of complications, including a new romantic interest named Gabriel (Rish Shah) and an adoring new friend called Daisy (Jenny Walser), as well as AJ’s grieving mother, Liv (Tasmin Greig), and a formidable new boss, Freya (Taj Atwal). They are joined by returning cast members Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra, and Alexandra Dowling, who are all set to face another round of sadistic mayhem. Whether they manage to make it out alive, remains to be seen. The teaser for Sweetpea Season 2 confirms a November premiere on Sky TV, with a Starz release in the US scheduled for early 2027. By the time it debuts on screens, fans will have waited more than two years for the continuation of Rhiannon’s story. Fortunately, the gripping first look promises that the upcoming chapter will be well worth the wait, delivering a lethal dose of dark humor and suspense to tide viewers over until Purnell makes her highly anticipated return to the wasteland in Fallout Season 3, expected in late 2027.

While a two-year gap between Sweetpea’s first and second seasons feels like a long wait, it’s not as brutal as it could have been. Creator Kirstie Swain is clearly hoping to strike while the iron is hot, following a wave of critical acclaim and strong viewer ratings. The team will be hoping to capitalize on the massive success of the first season, which quickly became a breakout hit thanks to its darkly comedic tone and gripping, suspenseful storytelling. Fueled by Ella Purnell’s widely praised central performance, the series built a dedicated global fanbase that is eagerly awaiting the next chapter in her character’s chaotic journey.
